Ferozsons Laboratories Limited is making efforts to spread the message of awareness and prevention against Hepatitis C to multiple stakeholders in the society.
A part of this effort is to reach out to private sector companies to further the cause of the elimination of Hepatitis C. PepsiCo Pakistan, taking a leadership role in this area, collaborated with Ferozsons Laboratories Limited to spread the message of awareness and prevention at their head office to educate the employees.
The kickoff session carried information about the disease, followed by screening of Hepatitis C, as well as a presentation form a renowned hepatologist.
While commenting on the initiative, PepsiCo Pakistan's Head of Corporate Affairs, Khurram Shah, stated that this collaboration with Ferozsons Labs on Hepatitis C awareness demonstrates the company’s commitment to the health of its employees. Based on the idea that a healthy workforce can contribute more effectively to not just the company, but to society in general, the campaign addressed a major health issue facing the country. With components of awareness, prevention and screening, the project provides a holistic approach to the address this key challenge.
More than 20 million people are estimated to be Hepatitis B or C positive in Pakistan. This presents a major health challenge as an additional 250,000 newly infected patients join this pool every year
